COORG

I and Sujith planned to go for a trip ,but where to go ?We discussed
a lot among
st the options available to us and final zeroed in on Coorg. I personally never like
to visit a place which is commercialized . So within Coorg we decided to go to a place which
is not commercialized and is very peaceful -Somavarpet. It is a taluka which comes under CoorgWe started early on this beautiful day with a clear sky, and hit the road to Somwarpet. This 280-kilometer, one-and-half hour drive will surely perk you up. Somwarpet is the coffee heartland of Coorg. You will pass through some of the finest coffee estates you would have ever seen. Magnificent trees reaching up to the skies, casting much wanted masses of shade to the coffee plants. It's one great spread of continuous foliage very gloriously prepared in an extraordinary operation by Nature, mingled with cardamom and pepper as well. Big,
medium or small, they add to the already beautiful and fabulous landscape all around you can get of.
We had planned to go on Friday and return on Sunday. But unfortunately because of some official work I had to go to Tumkur on bike on Friday and as always I was very late . Sujith and his friends were very disappointed because we had got very late. I was very tired and so I sat in the
car with Darshan , Hussian, Suhas and Tejas. Sujith and his friend Nagarjuna were
going to come on the bike.
We started slowly moving towards our destination and we crossed Bangalore outskirts but there was no sign of Sujith who was following us behind.
yes this was because Sujith went in the wrong direction, we were on the Mysore road and Sujith sir was waiting for us on Tumkur road. We called him and gave him the directions as to how to reach us, he took around only 1 and a half hour to reach us. In the mean time, I made the best use of time, as I had beer with Darshan and that made me eager to take the bike .
As soon as Sujith reached us I took the bike from him. Guys! The race begins now. It was between me and Suhas,Sujith’s bike ,pulsar 150 was new to me and so I took few minutes to settle on his bike. It was around 7.30 pm and I was moving very slowly towards Mysore.
The road was very good with double track on both the sides. There was a lot of traffic on both sides of the road. The vehicles which were coming opposite to me were giving a strong flash light which was very irritating to me. It was very difficult to ride the bike in early evening. But still, I managed to go with a good speed on top gear.

After an hour’s journey Sujith and Suhas
were waiting for me near Maddur café coffe day. This coffe day is very popular night out spot around Bangalore with a lot of crowd in the night time. During our college days in Ramaiah we used to come here frequently. I lost the race, Suhas was making fun of me. Next I took the helmet of Sujith , and the wind shielder in the helmet gave me support from air which was giving stiff resistance and opposing me to ride well. I now was comfortably exhibiting my bike driving skills to my pillion Darshan.
Around 9.00 pm we had reached Srirangapatnam and had to wait for Suhas and his friends who got very late. In the mean time I shared the famous story of Rajesh Vempati with Darshan as we were standing on the same spot where Rajesh and
Srikanth fell from the bike in an comic way when we were going to Gopalswamy betta.
At last Suhas and his friends arrived and we had the dinner in nearby dhaba. At around 09.30 pm we started our journey towards Somvarpet. It was about 120km more. We were going at very good speed to reach our
destination. At 11.30 pm we reached kushal nagar and from there Somvarpet was only 30 km.I had decided to reach Somaverpet before 8.30pm, because in the night time between kushalnagar and Somavarpet there was a chance of Elephant’s blocking the road as one often spots them on this road, but I was completely exhausted as
I had travelled for more than 300km from Bangalore to Tumkur and from
Tumkur to kushal nagar via Bangalore and
Mysore. So, we decided to go slowly if in case we saw a elephant we will stop or will come
back to kushal nagar. Luckily we didn’t face any Elephant menace on the way.
At mid night we reached Beelur golf club and it was November 1. We
celebrated kannada rajyotsava with crackers
and we took few photos over there .There was an unwelcome guest- the german shepherd which came due to noise of us from the nearby
house. We clicked him
too with us in the pics.

Beelur Golf Club
Beelur Golf Club is located 8 km from Somwarpet town and it is one of the oldest club in the town. The lush green golf ground attracts many movie makers

And finally we reached somavarpet at 1.30am and I already bookd the room in ho
tel suvidha. We went to the bed by saying good night and sweet dreams, but our hero Darshan kept on watching cricket in the tv.

I had been to Coorg with my juniors Maulik and his batch in the last
rainy season. It was very beautiful at that time and we enjoyed a lot. At that time also I came on bike with Dhaval and we stayed in the same hotel Suvidha.

In early morning view from the top of ho
tel looks very scenic. We can see entire Somavarpet which is situated in hilly region of Western Ghats.

Maulik and his gang came in bus , so we took 2 jeeps to go Mallalli water falls and Bisle Ghat section. The road was covered with thick fog and it looked awesome.Via
shanth halli cross, we reached Pushpagiri peak

which comes under Pushpagiri national park.

At the base of the peak there is an old historical temple of lord Shiva.
After visiting the temple Maulik and his gang started climbing the peak which was just 1217m far actually, but
most of the peak we had already scaled while coming in the jeep.

So it was easy to reach top of the peak.
View from t
he top of the peak was fantastic.

Public took a lot of photos with group and sol
o and after all that we came down and started moving towards Mallalli water falls

The Mallalli Falls is located 25 km from Somwarpet. It is a stunning sight for the tourists.
water of theriver Kumaradhara gushes
down the valley, cutting through the luscious green mountains surrounding it. The river water is white as milk while the surrounding greenery stands out like beautiful emeralds.

On the way to Mallalli water falls we found a tata safari w
hich had got stuck in the mud. There was no further way for the jeep to go. So we decided to walk. It was about 2km to water falls.

So we started to walk and we enjoyed it due to drizzle and loveable bites of blood sucking
leaches which accompanied us all throughout, and finally with all
this we had made a memorable march to water fall. The water falls was too good.

On the side of the water fall there were two big rocks’ ,view of the water fall
between these two rocks’ was a sight to behold but the monsoon winds were making it difficult for people to stand between the rocks and take a look at the falls.
I wanted to go down to water falls but as the group had very large number of people who had never come across these type of trekking experience I decided against going down, but then also some

people intended to go down but did not go
because of time factor Again we started moving towards our jeep, when we reached near jeep we saw some people were struggling to pull the tata safari which had got stuck up in the mud. That vehicle was
of one of the kannada film director wh
o had come there searching for location for his upcoming film.Director called us for the help to pull up the vehicle from the mud, and all our boys gang helped him to push the vehicle from slope to the top of the road , it was very terrible experience. The director took the video of struggling action , and he promised to send us that video and he did it too. It was lunch time and every
one was hungry and we moved back to Somavarpet and we had the lunch in some small hotel. After that we had the plan to go
Manjerabad fort of Tippu Sultan in
Sakleshpura and we reached the fort at 4.30 pm. It was a historical fort gifted byTippu Sultan.

Fort is situated about 6.4 Kms from Sakleshpur town and it is visited by a large number of tourists throughout the year.
Set at a height of about 3,240ft. above sea level, this fort is supposed to have been built during the reign of Tipu Sultan. It is constructed out of stones and mud and it has chambers all around

The name 'Manjarabad' has an interesting story behind it. While inspecting the construction of the fort, Tipu Sultan is said to have observed fog (known in Kannada as Manju) around this place and decided to name this fort Manjarabad.

Manjarabad Fort served as a strategic defensive location during Tipu Sultan's rule as it commands the approach to the plateau beyond Sakleshpur from the coast.

After visiting the fort many of them wa
nted to go to kukke Subramanya temple ,it is a very famous snake temple in South India. We started at 5:00 pm and reached the temple at 9 pm and at that time temple doors were closed for us, we just prayed to the god from outside and returned to Somavarpet.
After a not so long sleep we woke up early in the morning, had breakfast and then we planned to go to Bisle Ghat section. One of my friend helped us to reach Bisle Ghat.
After moving in many hairpin loops we reached Bisle . It was like heaven. As far as I am concerned it is best place in the Coorg to visit in Spring, where clouds are playing hide and seek with you.

LIFE IN THE CLOUDS was a very memorable experience for all of us

It was very good bike route from Somavarpet to Subramanya, for the people who are nature lovers. And also for trekkers who can walk from bisle(pushpagiri national park) to subramanya across the huge mountains, it was about 3days and 2 nights journey After bisle we moved to beelur golf club(beelur bane) ,it was large green grass ground .Our friends clicked many photos in that place and after that we moved to kushalnagar Elephat camp (cauvery nisargadhama)

Cauvery Nisargadhama
Nisargadhama is forest resort just 3kms from Kushalnagar towards Madikeri off the state highway. Nisargadhama is a 25 acre island formed by river Kaveri with bamboos, teak, sandalwood trees streams and wild life covering it.

GoldenTemple- Buddhist Monastery
Feel Tibet in Coorg
After the Chinese took over Tibet, the refugees were settled at Bylakuppe Near Kushalnagar and the Buddhist Monastery was reestablished here in 1972. It houses over 250 monks today. The monastery not only attracts large
number of young Tibetans seeking enlightenment and education, but also draws huge tourists from all over India and abroad. After all this we started our journey in the reverse gear towards
Bangaluru. This was a story with ourjuniors.

Evert time
my trip
schedule is big but because of time shortage we miss many places. This time also I missed many places like
tadiyandamol, edakumari and mandelpet. But when I came with Sujith and his friends we did not go to bisle instead we went to mallhalli water falls and pushpagiri and we made our journey towards kushalnagar where we had dinner.
And after that race between me and suhas (sick driver of i10)made us to reach Bangaluru at mid night 2 o clock. Only our speedometer can tell anyone the speed of alcoholic mind racing against time.

"I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where; For so swiftly it flew, the sight Could no
t follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, who has sight so keen and strong That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And t
he song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend."
